Raisi: After Revolution Iran favored broader ties with African countries

Tehran, IRNA – In a meeting to receive the new Malian ambassador's credentials, President Ebrahim Raisi referred to the immense potential for broadening ties with the African countries, including Mali, saying that in the post-Revolution era, expansion of ties with African countries has been a priority for Iran.

In his meeting with Ambassador Muhammed Maiga, President Raisi referred to the insulting behavior of the Western countries in their interactions with the African countries and condemned it, which he said was not aimed at assisting the African nations, but for looting their national wealth and for colonialist intentions.

"I believe the African countries with their rich resources and competent human force can free from western interference and independently achieve both greater development and advancement," he added.

President Raisi said that the western countries; presence in different parts of the world does not only create no more security, but is also a factor contributing to insecurity, expressing hope that the new government in Mali will be able to take long strides towards both independence and development.

The new Mali Ambassador Muhammed Maiga, for his part, praised the achieved economic progress in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and said, "In African scientific and political circles Iran is known as a newly emerged economy, and therefore, we want to strengthen our comprehensive cooperation with Iran."
